Goldberg & Connolly's Mitchell B. Reiter and Clinton S. Hein Address ASCE Program on Insurance Coverage Essentials

Goldberg & Connolly is pleased to announce that Partner Mitchell B. Reiter and Senior Associate Clinton S. Hein, both members of the firm's Construction Law and Policyholder Coverage Groups, presented a program on insurance coverage essentials to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Metropolitan Section on October 18, 2012.

The program, entitled "Does Your Insurance Program Have You Covered? Insurance Coverage Essentials for Engineers," focused on the onerous risk for construction managers and related parties stemming from the double-pronged spike in insurance costs coupled with increasing disclaimers of coverage. Mr. Reiter detailed ways in which construction managers can navigate through these perilous circumstances, offering explanations to issues such as risk shifting through the use of additional insured endorsements and indemnity agreements, horizontal and vertical exhaustion, the dangers of relying solely upon ACORD Certificates, and how to handle holdbacks when owners learn of insurance coverage deficiencies.

Mitchell B. Reiter regularly counsels policyholders regarding their rights when insurance carriers improperly attempt to disclaim their policy coverage obligations. As part of the Policyholder Coverage Group, he routinely enforces coverage rights under liability policies of all types, including CGL, umbrella and excess, as well as other specialty liability policies.

Clinton S. Hein's practice is concentrated in the areas of insurance coverage disputes and litigation. He regularly counsels contractor clients with issues arising from CGL, builder's risk, workers' compensation, employer's liability, business interruption, and professional (design) liability policies.
