Henry L. Goldberg, Managing Partner of Goldberg & Connolly, Moderates AGC New York Panel on Construction Risk Management Essentials and the Changing Insurance Market

Goldberg & Connolly recently presented a panel discussion entitled Construction Risk Management Essentials and the Changing Insurance Market. The event was hosted by Goldberg & Connolly along with Associated General Contractors of New York State, LLC (AGC NYS) on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Cornell Club.

The panel was moderated by Goldberg & Connolly's Managing Partner, Henry L. Goldberg, Esq. Panelists included Mitchell B. Reiter, Esq., Partner at Goldberg & Connolly,Jim Conroy, Senior Vice President of Construction Primary Casualty, AIG, Shari Natovitz, Senior Vice President of Risk Management at Silverstein Properties, andMike Banahan, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of USI Construction Services.

The breakfast program addressed the major factors in the insurance market that are driving up costs for the contractor community. The event featured a panel discussion focusing on the most problematic insurance issues facing contractors today, as well as recent changes in the industry, such as higher primary liability limit requirements.

Panelists shared insights regarding effective strategies for structuring insurance programs that meet specific business requirements, as well as the importance of reviewing each contract's insurance requirements. Topics covered also included, recent legal decisions and Labor Law §240 compliance; insurance coverage of "Upstream Parties"; horizontal and vertical exhaustion; and steps contractors and construction managers can take to mitigate construction insurance challenges.
