Norman A. Steiger has been actively involved
in federal contract law and management for over thirty years. He
is Of Counsel and Director of the firm’s Federal Contracts
Group.
Mr. Steiger began his career in government contracts
with the Office of General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Defense
as an attorney for procurement matters. He was Director of Contracts
and Counsel for the Hazeltine Corporation of Greenlawn, New York.
In addition, he has served as General Counsel to Unisys Corporation's
Shipboard and Ground Systems Group in Great Neck, New York.
Currently, Mr. Steiger is Editor-in-Chief of
Federal Contract Management, the noted three-volume treatise on
federal government contracts published by Matthew Bender.
A lecturer of national acclaim, Mr. Steiger is
a former member of the BNA Federal Contract Report Advisory Board
and formerly served on the editorial board of the National Contract
Management Journal.
Mr. Steiger served as Vice-President and Secretary
of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), is the 1993
recipient of the Charles Delaney Memorial Award for his noted international
procurement contracts article, and received the NCMA’s 1994
Charles A. Dana Distinguished Service Award for his extraordinary
service to the Association.
Instrumental in establishing Hofstra University’s
highly acclaimed program in contract management, Mr. Steiger was
responsible for originating courses in “Government Contract
Law,” “Negotiation of Government Contracts,’ and
“Proposal Preparation and Evaluation.” For these efforts
he received the 1991 Hofstra University Award For Excellence.
